HB 810 changes the phase-in provision of the E-Verify requirements for smaller businesses registering to pay county occupation taxes.  Current law requires employers with more than 10 employees to come into compliance on July 1, 2014.  HB 810 would apply that deadline to employers with more than 50 employees.  Employers with 11 to 50 employees would have until July 1, 2015 to sign up for E-Verify.

HB 810 also allows businesses registering to pay their county occupation tax (or renewing their registration) to submit originals or copies of documents verifying immigration status in person, by mail or electronically.
